2nd kyu (Ni kyu) BROWN STRIPE BELT Requirements

 

1st stripe Vocabulary:

  1. Maai – distancing (distance between two opponents)
  2. Makiwara – striking board or post
  3. Migi – right
  4. Morote – two hands
  5. Mudansha – colored belt holder (kyu rank)
  6. Mune – chest
  7. Oi zuki – lunge punch
  8. Okinawa te – original Okinawa fist art
  9. Renshu – to train, to practice, to drill
  10. Seiryuto – ox jaw hand
  11. Shiai – contest, tournament
  12. Shiai jo – contest area, ring
  13. Shimpan – referee
  14. Shita – down
  15. 15. Shugyosha – one who is in intense training, usually those who devote their lives to a discipline
  16. Shugyo – daily, regular, intense training or practice
  17. Ue – up
  18. Yudansha – holder of dan grade (Black Belt)
  19. Tamashiwara – the art of breaking hard objects

Physical Requirements:

2nd stripe Basics:

  1. Ten step drill using side step in forward seisan dachi and punch.
  2. Ten step drill using side step in forward seisan dachi and appropriate strikes.

3rd stripe Kicks:

  • Consecutive kicking combinations
  1. Fake side kick to obi, roundhouse kick to head.
  2. Fake side kick to obi, hook kick to head.
  3. Roundhouse kick to obi, roundhouse kick to head.
  4. Roundhouse kick to obi into hook kick to head.

4th stripe Self Defense:

DUST

  • Pin (Attacker on top)
  1. Hands held – Punch out, buck and roll and follow up
  2. Choke – Lever, buck out, roll and follow up

5th stripe Sparring:

Offensive:

  1. Wide sole sweep with near roundhouse kick (same foot).
  2. Wide sole sweep with wide roundhouse kick (alternate feet).
  3. Wide sole sweep, take down and follow up.

Defensive:

  1. Groin tears (may be done offensively).

6th stripe Kata:

  • Pinan Yondan

6th stripe Kobudo:

  • Shihonuke
