1st stripe Vocabulary:

  1. Heisoku dachi – Attention stance
  2. Musubi dachi – Attention stance (toes out)
  3. Heiko dachi – Natural stance
  4. Fudo dachi – Open leg stance
  5. Seisan dachi – Crescent moon stance
  6. Naihanchi dachi – Iron horse stance
  7. Kosa dachi – Hook or cross legged stance
  8. Neko ashi dachi – Cat or cat footed stance
  9. Sanchin dachi – Hour glass stance
  10. Hike te – Withdrawing hand
  11. Uke te – Blocking hand
  12. Uchi te – Striking hand
  13. Tsuke te – Punching hand
  14. Geri – Kick
  15. Ashi – Foot
  16. Te – Hand

 

Physical Requirements:

2nd stripe Basics:

  1. Ten step drill moving in nai hanchi dachi with rear foot shift and punch.
  2. Ten step drill moving in nai hanchi dachi with rear foot shift and appropriate strikes.

 

3rd stripe Kicks:

  • Fumi-komi (Side stomp kick)
  • Tetsui Uchi (Hammerfist strike) inside and downward.

4th stripe Self defense:

DUST

  1. Double wrist grab
    1. Front – Horizontal elbow release and follow up
    2. Prayer block with knee smash or round kick and follow up
    3. Rear – Step punch down, back kick and follow-up
    4. Cross step, elbow, punch or strike and follow-up
  2. Rear double arm hook.
    1. Stomp, stomp, groin grab, step behind & follow up
    2. Stomp, stomp, shrug forward, back kick & follow up

 

5th Stripe Sparring:

Offensive:

  1. Slide step with rear foot and straight punch, with front foot _______, and then reverse punch.
    1. Front kick
    2. Near roundhouse kick
    3. Side or hook kick
    4. Reverse crescent kick
    5. Heel hook or sole sweep

 

Defensive:

  1. Pull back and counter (fade and go)
  2. Lean away and counter.

6th Stripe Kata:

  • Pinan nidan
